Hoelting Reunion 2015

This year for 4th of July we headed to Olpe to celebrate with a good Ol' Fashion Hoelting Reunion.  At the last reunion I was nominated to be one of the chairpersons to plan the reunion so I had a bit more one my plate than the normal fun agenda.  Planing took place for about a year and by the time the 4th rolled around we were all ready to go.   I honestly did not know how much work it took to get about 80 people all on the same page, wow!  We began Thursday night with fireworks and socializing at Henry and Marsha's.  We were lucky enough to be staying at their house so it worked out pretty great.  The kids loved the fireworks and really loved that there were some newborn kitties to play with.  Friday has always been my favorite day of the reunion because everyone starts arriving and the fun really begins.  There are lots of hugs and conversations going in a hundred different directions, a little overwhelming if you are an outsider.  Saturday we had family pictures, every single one of us there on time and ready to smile, no easy feat.  A softball game, kids games, and picnic in the park followed.  We all rested in the afternoon to get ready for a late night.  We had church, a great dinner, and dance Saturday evening.  Harper of course loved the dancing and Briggs of course refused to do any kind of dancing.  We went until the kids were to tired to go on and we headed home for the night.  Sunday we were in charge of all the clean-up and getting the place back in order.  A little bittersweet pulling away from the farm this time knowing that without Grandpa there it will no longer be the gathering place.  So many memories made on the farm I am so glad that my kids got to be a small part of that.
