Spring Break 2012

I think I have been putting off posting this blog because it would mean that Spring Break and our trip was actually over.  I am back at work and looking at these pictures longing to be back in the sand and sun.  We had a fabulous trip and loved that we were able to spend a nice relaxing week with our family.  We headed out for Texas on Friday night at 6:00 pm.  jammie's on and ready for a long night.  With two young kids we knew that driving through the night was our best option.  We drove all night, the kids did awesome, only waking up briefly for a short gas stop.  We made it to Mom and Dad's hotel in San Antonio at 5:00 am.  Greg did most of the driving and was such a trooper about staying awake and keeping us all safe and sound.  About 9:00 we headed out for the last leg of our trip, about 3 hours.  Briggs was so excited to see the ocean as we pulled into Port Aransas.  He has been there before but this is the first year that he will actually remember it.  I will not bore you with day by day details but we spent most of our time lounging by the beach and pool and simply doing very little.  It was a fabulous trip and I am so glad I was able to experience the ocean with my kids and see the wonder in their eyes.  Here is our trip in pictures.....

All buckled in and ready for the long journey.  We had a rental mini-van for the week and it was great.  Briggs loved that it had 2 tv's in it so he could watch his shows.  God bless the kids for enduring the trip with flying colors.
View of the ocean from our condo.  Pretty nice to wake-up to.
We quickly discover that Harper is a sand lover.  Not only did she digest her fair share of sand she loved to dig in it, throw it, roll in it, and really just loved all things sand.
The pool was a little cold for Briggs taste but Harper was all for it.  Truly it was about 60 degrees, burrrrr.  She loved it but we made her get out when her teeth started chattering.
Taking in the pier in Corpus Christi.  Briggs was in love with the fishermen and would ask them all as we walked by if they had caught anything.  Right before we got there a man had just caught a sting ray so we were able to see it, the kids loved that.
All our little beach babies.  Trying to get them to all look in the same direction takes a miracle so we settle for 3 out of 4!  They loved digging holes and the little girls loved getting in the holes to play.
Just loving the sand and what a beach bod.  Love, love chubby legs in a swimsuit!

Digging more holes, not sure who enjoyed it more Uncle Chris or the kids.
Briggs loved watching the big boats come into port.
Lydia and Briggs became expert wave jumpers.  So fun to watch Briggs play in the waves.
More sandy baby.  Just love the pigtails and sandy legs.
Our first walk down the boardwalk from our condo to the beach.  The first few days it
was not too warm and really windy.  We were glad we had packed jackets

Greg toted Harper along in the backpack, she is too much of a wiggle wart to hold all the time.  We did discover that she does know how to climb out of the backpack, ahhhhh.  we know hold on to her ankles when we are in route with her.
So happy to be at the beach.  We would go out and jump two waves and then try to beat the next one back to the shore.
The girls all had matching outfits so we tried a group photo.  This was one of the better ones if that tells you how well the photo shoot went over.

These two are best of friends.  I can only imagine the trouble they will get into as they get older.
Cutest little ruffle buns ever!  They loved to steal ice from the cooler.
We decided to extend our vacation a bit and spent our final day visiting the aquarium in Corpus Christi.  Briggs and Harper both loved the fish.  Harper was amazed at the dolphins under the water.
We stopped in New Braunsfield, TX on the way home for a little leg stretch and some playing at a park.  How lucky were we to find a park that had train rides.  Greg and I laughed about how excited we were to find train rides and a park.  Not so long ago we would have been thrilled to find a new tavern now a train ride makes us happy, oh how your priorities change.

We made it home on Friday morning at 5:00 am, very tired and ready to sleep in our own beds.  After going to the doctor Friday we found out that Harper had an ear infection and pink eye.  She was awesome on the way home considering she probably did not feel so great.

We feel so lucky to have such a wonderful family that we love spending time with.  Thank you Doe Doe and Papa for the wonderful condo and invitation to be beach bums for a week.  Thanks to everyone that helped us with feeding kids, rocking babies, transporting our whole condo just to go to the beach, and allowing our kids and us to have a great trip.  Leta you were a wonderful housemate and oh so helpful with our kids.  They love you and we love that you are a part of our family.  Although we are sad it is all over we will have so many memories that we will talk about for year to come.
