Lucky Man

There are many reasons why I feel like I struck gold with my family and am the luckiest man in the world, but here are a few specifics why:

Sara:
She is the most supportive wife a person could ever ask for. When the crazy idea of me going back to school to make a life altering career change popped up, she hopped right on board with enthusiasm and never made me doubt my decision…if anything she urged me on more. There is a saying that your spouse should be your best friend and your biggest fan and I definitely have that in Sara. She put in just as hard work as me over the past few years with nights home alone with the kids while I was at school, but she never let it phase her. Along with being supportive, she still can amaze you with how dedicated she is in every aspect of her life. She is a wonderful mother and our kids adore her, she is absolutely amazing at her job and I strive to be as good of a teacher as her someday, she is a great friend and sibling and will do anything for anyone, and she still makes me want to speed home from work just to see her even after being together for 11 years now (crazy how time flies).

Briggs:
This little guy has to be one of the funniest kids I’ve met. Yes he is in his 3-yr old phase right now so he can be a handful at times, but I love listening each day to new things he has to say. Who else can make you laugh while explaining evaporation to you (not that any other 3-yr old would probably even know that), or says his legs are all “warmed out” instead of worn out after a long walk, or can’t simply just say he has to go #2, but instead has to say “I got potties first and pooper-nuggets second.” He’s also one of the most loving little boys I’ve ever seen. He’s a great snuggler every morning at 5:30am on the dot when he crawls in bed with us, and is always up for a hug or to watch one of “his types of shows” on your lap. I’m going to miss these days at some point in my life when he gets too cool for me, but for now I’m going to soak up every moment of him thinking I’m the coolest person ever and laughing at everything I do.

Harper:
Talk about the most motivated and driven 8 month old in the history of time (hmmm, wonder where she gets that from Sara?). This is a girl that you cannot stop from doing what she wants and I love that about her. You can tell her no and pull her off the stairs ten times in a row, but she’s like a wind up toy and will just go back for more while smiling at you the entire time. Speaking of that smile, it has to be one of the best smiles and she will throw it out at any time. The best thing about her is when you go in first thing in the morning when she wakes up and she looks up at you instantly starts smiling. I can already tell she is going to be the most loving take-no-prisoners type of person and that makes her daddy proud. I was a little nervous when we were first told we were going to have a girl, but I think my worries are going away more and more with each passing day. She has a perfect role model in her mother to learn from and she won’t take any grief from anyone.

I love you three more and more each day……Greg
