Retirement Party

After 35 years of working at Home Savings Bank my Dad decided to retire.  We knew for about a year that the day was approaching, mainly because Dad talked about it all the time.  We decided to plan a party for him after his final day of work.  Kelli, Mom, and I worked together to get things ready invitations sent out, and decorations in order.  We had a great turn out, so nice to see all those people that were so happy for Dad.  Not sure I have a future in party planning but the party was a great success and I think that everyone fun.  We concluded the party about midnight and moved the after party to mom and dads house.  I think Dad and his brothers ended up staying up till about 3 am.  Pretty good partying for an old retired guy! We are so proud of Dad and so grateful for all those years he worked and sacrificed to make sure his kids had everything they needed.  Way to go Papa, here's to many years of fun and relaxation.  We love you.

Everyone all dressed up and ready to go to the party.  The kids stayed for about an hour till we sent them off with the babysitter.

The whole crew.  A pretty cute group of kids.  The best part is that they love each other and love being together.

Papa with his favorite people.

I got to spend time with all my cousins.  It has been a long time since we have all been together.  So many fond memories of being with this group.

The decor wasn't anything fancy but is all came together nicely.

And this happened!  God only knows what you will get when you put Craig and Orville in charge of putting together some entertainment.

Papa after his big night.  A well earned nap, sure there will be many more afternoon naps in his retirement.

June 2015

As summer approached this year we made a decision to make this summer less busy than our last.  We even cancelled a few trips so that we would really have time to sit back and relax.  Greg and I remembered pretty quickly that we are not that great at relaxing after all!  We found ourselves planning things to keep us and the kids moving.  Overall the relaxation goal for June was met.  We slept in (kind of), stayed in our jammies till lunch, went on some great adventures around KC and got to enjoy spending all day with the kids.  Here are some of our June happening....

What do you do when your air conditioner goes out in the middle of June?  Camping thats right, we set up shop in our backyard and enjoyed a nice cool night outdoors.

I took in a Royals game with the girls.  Good Friends, great seats, cold beer, and the Royals make for a pretty fabulous night.

One of our trips to Deanna Rose for the summer.  What a wonderful place for kids to explore.  I think we could go there once a week and not get bored.

When we heard the words "Frozen" sing along party we knew we were in.  Theatre in the Park has a kids series where you can bring your lawn chairs and blankets and watch a movie on the big screen.  The girls were in heaven and we even got Briggs to go with the promise of staying up late and popcorn and M & M's .  The girls sang their hearts out and had a blast.

Just had to put this picture in here because she is so stinking cute.  She was such a sweetheart all summer and I loved being able to spend so much time with her.

Cashed out after one of our many summer adventures.  Love the tiger covered up beside her and not sure about the tape on her head.  You never know about that girl!

Pa Pa & Doe Doe's House

Over the summer we were lucky enough to spend a few week vacationing at the Herron Resort in Chanute.  The kids love going to Papa & Doe Doe's and would actually prefer to go there over most places we could offer.  Really what is not to love a pool, mopeds, fishing, parks, all you can eat buffets, and lots of cousin time.  We actually retreated to their house for a week when our air conditioner went out and could not have asked for a better hotel.  I love that the kids will have such fond memories from there time in Chanute. Here are a few pictures from our stays...

Thanks for the memories!
