Overland Park Arboretum

I am a few weeks behind on posts but considering we have survived the first few week of school I am not being too hard on myself.  We and by we I mean I have been wanting to check out the Overland Park Arboretum for quite some time and finally found a free Sunday that was perfect for the occasion.  The main draw was the train garden for our train obsessed boy but the scenery definitely did not disappoint.  We had a great time looking at the fish, turtles, spotting a lizard, checking out the flowers and admiring the waterfalls.  The train was great as well and I am pretty sure Briggs could have spent about 3 hours there.  I love finding new, fun places to explore with the kids.  I think I might want a job watering flowers here when I retire, so peaceful.  I will not include on my resume that I have killed every flower I have ever planted!

 

Biker Babes

We bought our first big boy bike at the becoming of this summer and have really started to become a great rider.  That may not be saying much considering it does still have training wheels but if you know cautious Briggs we feel like the fact that he is riding is a success.  He has promised that once he turns 5 he will be ready to take the training wheels off but there have been a lot of's "when I turn 5 I will start....." So we shall see. None the less I am super proud of him and think he is the cutest boy in a helmet around!  Harper has tried on her own bike a few times but it usually ends with Greg or I with a sore back. Not a lot of peddling happening but mostly pushing. I now understand why my dad always carried an old broom stick when we rode our bikes. For now she enjoys riding with Greg and bossing around about which direction they should go. I see many family bike rides in our future.

The Herron girls heading out again for another Thursday night concert at Power and Light. Pretty brave considering it is the first week of school and the reality that I actually have to get out of bed and work in the morning is very real now. We even convinced a very  pregnant Kelli to join us for the night, what a tropper. It was a beautiful night and a great concert. Loved having time with the girls and being able to soak up the last few summer nights. 

Happy Anniversary

Happy anniversary to my wonderful husband.  Seems like just yesterday we said I do but 8 years, 2 kids, and so many memories later here we are.  It has been fun, crazy, amazing, and just pretty perfect.  We celebrated with a night out at a great new restaurant and drinks at our favorite bar.  Can't wait for many more years of happiness.  

Girlfriends

A weekend away with my 3 favorite girlfriends is just what I needed to cap off a already fabulous summer.  No children, a great lake view, plenty of adult beverages, sun, pool, and laughing with the girls in my opinion is about as good as it gets. We may not make it partying as late into the night as we used to but we still know how to have a good time! Love you girls and so happy I have you all in my life.
