What's Happening

Where are you Spring? So we just keep waiting for the weather to turn into spring and it seems like it may never happen.  For a family that loves to be outside this winter has been a rough one.  Today our forecast called for a snow/rain mix, in April no less.  I am dying at school too not being able to get in my normal Spring time activities outside.  Looks like this weekend might be the turn around thank goodness.  This morning we had our end of the school year meeting which means summer break is really just around the corner.  After this week I am down to 3 weeks of actual school time, crazy how quickly this semester has went by.  Greg has taken a position teaching summer school teaching 3rd and 4th grade math.  It will only last 4 week and only till noon each day so should be a really great gig.  We are so looking forward to getting rid of the daily grind and rush for the summer.

Harper's birthday is coming up on Friday.  Hard to believe she is already 2 years old, not such a baby anymore.  We are gearing up for a busy weekend starting with a day off on Friday to celebrate sweeties big day, Royals game with the Herron crew on Saturday for Mom and Leta's birthdays, and a family birthday party for Harper on Sunday.  She is really excited every time we talk about her birthday although I am not sure she fully understands the whole birthday concept yet.  She is thrilled to be getting an Elmo cake and has been practicing blowing out candles.  We are so excited for a fun filled weekend and a great reason to celebrate.  Birthday updates comming soon.  A few pictures of our sparse sunny days outside.

Royals Opening Day

Greg and I attended opening day of the Royals this year for the first time.  What a treat to take a Monday off to spend time with friends, watch some great baseball, and not have any responsibilities for a moment.  We headed out super early for a few drinks at one of our favorite bars, yes we were officially the first patrons at 10am.  When we have a day off to spend together we do it right!  We had a few different tailgates to attend so we got to see a bunch of different groups of friends.  Opening day is quite a spectacle, if you have never been it is a must.  I know we will be back in the upcoming years.  The Royals won which was exciting and they are actually off to a pretty good start to the season.  We are looking forward to a few more games this summer and hopefully a winning season.

Easter

While I realize Easter has come and gone almost a month ago now I am writing this blog none the less.  I always have every intention of blogging most days but by the time I actually have time to I am all out of energy and inspiration.  So here is Easter a day late and a dollar short.

Briggs was so excited about Easter this year. He was actually pretty sure he spotted the Easter bunny a few times before Easter scoping out our yard. We had to answer alot of questions about how the Easter bunny would get into the house to hide eggs if it was too cold outside. To date magic seems to be the appropriate answer for all special Holiday miracles! Briggs woke up on Easter morning and ran into our room to let us know that he did not wake up one time during his nap (also known as nighttime) so he would not see the Easter Bunny.  Briggs and I were tired of waiting for little miss sleepyhead so we decided she would not mind a little wake-up call.  We headed down the stairs to see what the Easter Bunny had left us....

Harper found her first egg and was perfectly happy to eat the chocolate and abandon the search.  Briggs loved finding the eggs with a few clues on the tricky ones.

Notice our Halloween buckets that double as Easter buckets. They were thrilled to use them again so I decided who needs pretty Easter baskets.
Best part of Easter, opening the eggs to see your loot.  I think Harper thought she was responsible for eating everything she got out of her eggs, usually with wrapper and all.
Cutest little bunny in world.  She wore these ears all week while jumping around the house.
We made our way over to Gram and Grandads in the afternoon for a great meal and a nice afternoon outside.  We love our crazy cousin Mia and getting to spend time with her.

We had a great day being with our family and watching the kids get into Easter this year.
