Look who is 1!

Happy Birthday to our sweet Hadley girl.  We got to help Hadley celebrate her 1st birthday on Sunday.  Seems crazy that she could already be 1 year old and such a big girl.  We love Hadely for her sweet smile, the way she LOVES Briggs and Harper, her happy disposition, her assertive ways, and for making our family much more complete.  We love you Hadley girl and look forward to watching you grow into a beautiful young lady.

Pumpkin Patching

We headed to Weston's The Red Barn Farm on Saturday to take in our first pumpkin patch of the season. What a sweet little farm for kids to explore and have fun.  We were able to see horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, and goats.  We tried to persuade Briggs to take a horse ride but our little nervous nelly wanted nothing to do with the horse ride.  We opted instead for a tractor drawn hay rack ride which was a hit.  Briggs spent the whole ride checking out the huge tractor tires, such a boy.  It ended up being the perfect fall weekend which we took full advantage of, I think the winter cold is right around the corner.

Pumpkin Carving

We had a small gathering last weekend to do some pumpkin carving.  The kids had a great time playing outside and we ended up with some spooky pumpkins.  A few shots of the day.
Briggs with the ladies
Let the carving begin.  Notice who actually is doing the work.  Briggs thought it was very yucky!

Harper decided it was a bit boring for her taste
The finished product!

Happy Halloween!

We attempted to take a family picture on Briggs birthday but you will notice one member (the birthday boy) missing. He told us he was too busy to take a picture so we settled for the 3 of us. Love Harper looking at her daddy so sweetly, I think she is in love! Harper is really growing up. She has started eating oatmeal, rice, and veggies on a regular basis. The girl can eat too, I know why our pants are starting to look like tights. She is now scooting everywhere. If she wants she can make it from one side of the room to the other. I feel as if crawling and baby gates are in our near future. She is still madly in love with Briggs. He can just look at her to illicit a smile and a laugh while Greg and I have to do a song and a dance. We say daily how lucky we are to have such a sweet baby girl. Looking forward to a nice weekend and some relaxation.

Briggs' Big Day

Well another birthday party has come and gone. We had the whole family over for lunch and to spend the day with Briggs. He felt pretty darn special with all those people over just for him and he was on cloud 9. Briggs was pretty excited about all his gifts he got that day and is still playing with all of them every night. He has been loading up his helicopter, jumping on his trampoline in his room, reading all his new books, and driving his truck around the neighborhood like he owns the streets. We literally can't keep him out of it when we get home at night. The battery has a 3-4 hour life on it and he wore it down the first day (he actually popped the hood to check things over before saying it needed some more juice) and has been coming close every night since. We have been up and around the block, to the park to do some off roading, and playing the radio to listen to his "favorite song" which really is any song playing. We are so lucky to have the type of family that loves to be involved with Briggs as much as they are and it definitely does not go without notice. Thank you all so much for coming over to celebrate his birthday with us and for all that you do for him.

Briggs is 3

Mom - Happy Birthday to our sweet little boy. We can hardly believe 3 years have gone by since you came into our lives. We feel so lucky to have you and look forward to watching you grow. You make our lives such an adventure and we love you more than you will ever know.

Dad - I can't believe my little guy is 3 years old. I have to say I love him at this age and would bottle it up it I could and hold on to it forever, but I realize that's impossible and it will be so much fun to watch him get even older. Without bragging on him too much, I'd have to say he is one of the most fun kids to hang out with ever. He is so inquisitive about everything and it is so amazing to watch his face as you explain things to him. He really takes in the info and never forgets what you tell him....believe me on that one. It could be a year later and he'll whip out some comment that you forgot a long time ago. His personality is also one of his best traits. He has a great sense of humor and is always looking for a laugh. He is also my little clone with his "routines" that he loves so much. I will never forget his morning and bedtime rituals. "Daddy, I need a milk, a snack, and a little bit a show." Or my favorite when you are ready to leave his room at night after reading him books, "Daddy, give me a drink, rub my back (open it..meaning under the shirt), and tell me stories." He is a constant laugh and has been a great addition to our household over the past few years. I love you bud and you make me a very happy and proud daddy.

Happy Birthday Greg

Happy Birthday Greg! You are the best daddy and husband we could ever ask for and I feel so honored to get to share another birthday with you. Thank you for all you do for our family and being the person you are. We love you and are proud of you.

Weekend Fun

What a beautiful and fun weekend. Greg headed to the K-State game on Saturday with a crew of boys. Great game for the wildcats!! While the daddies were away Kelli and I took the kids to the KC Zoo. Little did we know that this past weekend marked the 100 year anniversary for girl scouts and they were all asked to meet at the KC Zoo. Needless to say there were thousands of little girls dressed in green prancing around the zoo. We decided to fight the crowds since we had already made the trek out there. We ended up having a great time and got to see tons of animals. The highlights were Briggs getting to ride the sky safari with Kiki and Hadley and you guessed it the train ride. I am pretty sure he might grow up to be a train conductor, he is obsessed!

We spend the evening over at Terry and Sue's playing with one of our favorite people, Mia. Briggs idolizes Mia and thinks anything she does is fabulous, I think she is pretty fabulous as well. Sunday we took it easy playing outside, went in search of our big birthday surprise for Briggs, hit the park, and enjoyed being home. Birthday week is upon us now and we are looking forward to lots of celebrating and blowing out candles at our house. Briggs totally gets that it his birthday this year and has even mastered showing us his 3 finger to indicate how old he will be. Stay tuned for birthday updates.
