Healthy and Happy

After a long week of a sick baby last week I am happy to report Harper is up and running again. As soon as her medicine kicked in she was like a new baby. She has been so happy and sweet, makes me know she was feeling pretty rotten last week. Love to see her smiles and hear her giggles again. She is growing so much these days I kind of want to stop time and just keep her a baby forever.

Over the weekend we ventured to Chanute to attend Artist Alley which is like our fall festival. I don't think I had been back since I was in high school. I got to see a ton of people from high school and catch up with some old friends which was really nice. The main event for Briggs was his first real train ride. They brought in a engine with passenger cars to give kids about a 45 minute ride. If you only knew how much we truly love trains at our house you would understand why this was a huge deal. He was so proud and told us stories about the train ride over and over all weekend. The look on his face with the train pulled up was priceless. We spent the rest of the weekend playing outside and enjoying some family time. As always Mom and Dad were the best hosts and always make going home so much fun.

Chanute Trip

Briggs was invited last week by Papa and Doe Doe to spend a few days in Chanute. I only had to ask him once if he wanted to go before he had his bags packed. Note to self do not tell a child that they are going to do something fun days in advance! Briggs loved having some "alone time" with Papa and Doe Doe and at no time was lacking for entertainment. Briggs had a list of stories from his adventures to tell us when he got home. I am not truly sure if Briggs or my parents had more fun. Thank you Papa and Doe Doe for making Briggs feel so special and always loving him like crazy.

Some of the fun that was had:

Visit to the airport. Saw a helicopter take off, a crop duster land, and was able to sit in a few airplanes.

Getting our haircut with Bridget, the only person who he will let cut his hair. Could it be the 3 suckers he gets or that she has a farm full of animals?

Visit to the train. Also took a walk along the train tracks and collected treasured.

Papa tilled a spot in the garden for him to play. What boy does not love mud.

The Scoop

This face is a perfect representation of the week we have had around here! After a few days of a fever and upset belly we took Harper to the doctor to find out that she was suffering from a UTI. Poor baby has been down and out and totally not her usual happy self. I have taken a few days off to be at home and give her lots of love. So sad when you see your little one sad and not feeling well. We are hoping to be on the tail end of this and seeing some sweet smiles again.

Loves this face. Can't believe we are weeks away from having a 3 year old. Seems like he gets bigger, smarter, and cuter each and everyday. We have been outside soaking up every minute of this nice weather, I think it may be fleeting.

This past weekend Greg and I ventured on a short overnight trip to St. Louis to see one of our favorite bands, Sister Hazel in concert. Funny, we were actually more excited for the car ride than anything else and the chance to have a uninterrupted conversation. We had a great time and remembered that we can still be fun adults and not just crazy parents. Always love alone time with my husband and the chance to slow down and reconnect.

Best Buds

Briggs and Harper have become pretty good buds lately. We were a little nervous at first when Briggs told us to leave her at the hospital after she was born, but he has warmed up to her quite a lot. Even when we're not in the room, we can hear him giving her kisses or getting in her face and saying, "Hi sweet little girl" over and over. The only thing we can't leave the room for is when Harper is in her swing and Briggs is around. I think he really wants to find out if she can fly because he swings her as hard as we do with him at the park. It's actually kind of funny, but only because we've caught it every time. Harper has started giggling now and Briggs is the champ at getting her to do it. She laughs at everything he does...even if it's just sitting at the table and eating dinner. It kind of melts our hearts to see them interact the way they do and we have our fingers crossed that it will still be this way in about 10 years.

New Tricks

A short video of the little lady she is getting so big and learning lots of new tricks. Blowing rasberries and rolling back over to our back are just a few. Hard to believe she is already 4 months old.

Mr & Mrs. Keeler

A few weeks after the wedding I finally have a chance to set back and process the whole weekend. It hardly seems possible that my little sister is married and no longer a Herron. Might take me awhile to call her by her new last name. What a beautiful, perfect weekend from start to finish. I know that the weekend was above and beyond what Jason and Kelli could have hoped or asked for. I felt so honored that I was able to be a part of everything leading up to the big day. Everything from the rehearsal, the Friday night girls slumber party, the actual wedding, Tanner's pre-party, and a stellar reception it was flawless. I think it doesn't hurt that we have a fabulous family that is always ready for a good time. In a way I am sad it is all over. Kelli I am so proud of you and wish you and Jason nothing but love and happiness.

Special thanks to Terry and Sue for caring for our babies while we ran around like crazy people. I know it was not easy but we appreciate your help more than you will ever know.
