Bachlorette Weekend

I am bit late with this post but did not want to leave it out. A few weekends ago we headed to Omaha to celebrate Kelli's last moments as a single lady. We spent the weekend laughing, eating, drinking, shopping, and celebrating. The weekend was perfect and well needed time away from home. Greg did a great job holding down the fort and taking care of the kids while I was gone. The countdown is on, exactly one month till the wedding. Kelli, I am so happy to get to share all theses special moments with you leading up to your big day.

Sweet Baby Girl

I feel like such a bad mommy I just realized that I have not posted anything about Harper in ages. Haper is now 2 months and 3 weeks old and literally growing like crazy right in front of our eyes. I always knew that I would be happy to have either a boy or a girl for my second baby but now that we have this sweet little girl in our family I can't imagine it any other way. There is something about having her around that just makes me and our family feel so complete. As a second time mommy I feel so much less pressure and anxiety that it really allows me to take everything for what it is and truly enjoy her.

Since the day we brought Harper home she has slept like a dream She goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 and get up only once around 4am for a bottle and then right back down till around 7:30. I am knocking on wood as I write this and hoping that this streak continues. She is eating like a champ and really starting to pack on the pounds. At her appointment this week she weighed in at 13 pds 10 oz which puts her in the 90th percentile for her age. I fear that she will be going through her wardrobe faster than anticipated. When she is not sleeping or eating, which truly is about all she does, she is super happy. She has really found her voice and squeals so loud. I will try to get a video posted soon.

Briggs is totally in love with his little sister and is really doing awesome with her. He loves trying to make her smile and touching her cheeks. He calls her sweetie pie or cute little girl and it is by far the cutest thing I have ever heard. We feel so lucky to have Harper in our lives and I vow to be better about reporting on her.

Check out this crazy hair and this was in on a calm day. It has probably grown an inch since this picture, she is like a chia pet! Lets just say good hair days are far and few between with this lady

Summer Fun

So much to catch up on, blogging has been on the last of my to-do list the past few weeks. As I see my summer break slowly slipping by we are really trying to soak up every last minute. After the fourth of July weekend we were able to bring my cousin Allie home with us for a few days. Allie is a huge hit at our house Briggs thinks she is fabulous and she definitely has the touch with Harper. I loved having her around and having an extra pair of hands during the day was to die for. If I could hire her full time I would. She and Briggs spent endless hours swimming, reading, and playing trains. Allie is such a sweet young lady and we were so lucky to get to spend some time with her. Allie thanks for all your help we love you!

Happy Birthday Papa

For my Dad's birthday this year (I will not disclose his true age) my mom orchestrated a small surprise party for him. We met at Knuckleheads Bar in KCK for an Asleep At The Wheel concert. If you have never been to Knuckleheads it is truly a trip, it may be diversity at it's finest. Asleep at the Wheel is one of Dads favorite bands but us probably unknown to anyone under 60 or a fondness for country music. We all arrived a little before Dad and really got to surprise him good. It is pretty rare to get everyone out without kids anymore so it was nice to party like the good ol days. We had a perfect night and I think Dad had a great birthday. Happy birthday dad we love you.

Round Two KC Zoo

Apparently we are animal crazy or I am a sucker but we braved the Kansas City Zoo for a second time this summer. Harper and Hadley both got to come along adding to the fun and chaos of it all. Kelli and I stayed busy either pushing a stroller, feeding a baby, getting snacks, holding a kid, and occasionally seeing an animal. Briggs once again loved everything, especially the train and the carousel. I have a feeling we may be back for round two soon!
