Lake Weekend

A few weekends back we were able to go on an adult only lake weekend with our friends Michael and Melissa. They are also right along with us having their second kiddo a few weeks before us, so this weekend was much needed and appreciated by all. We took the day off Friday and headed down to the condo and a night of drinks and adult talk. Saturday we had a boat all day and the weather was absolutely perfect. The day was almost perfect until about an hour before we had to go back in. Note to self: When the gas gauge says 1/4 tank, go fill'er up. Yep, we were the chuckleheads on the lake getting towed in by Scuba Steve and the rescue squad because we flat ran out of gas. As you can see from the pictures, Michael and I are hanging on to the trees poking out of the lake so the wind doesn't push us up against the shore. It all makes for a good story...at least that's what I was telling myself. So thank you to the grandparents for watching the kids for us and allowing us some freedom for a few days!! We greatly appreciate it!!

Family Fun

So much to catch up on I feel like we have been running around like crazy people the last few weeks. We spent a full week in Chanute instead of our annual Tablerock trip. With 4 kids 3 and under we knew we were better off forgoing the trip this year. Our week was super relaxing and fun. We swam at least 3 times a day, visited cousins and friends, took a million moped rides, drove the princess jeep , and enjoyed spending time with our family. Briggs is really getting to be quite the water bug. He jumps into the water on his own and really kicks his feet to swim. Thanks Papa and DoeDoe for the hospitality and putting up with us for a full week. We had a blast and appreciate all your help with the kids.

Herron Grandkids

The Herron Grandkids got together over the weekend and had a photo shoot. Despite some ornery kids, mainly Briggs and near meltdowns we were able to get some really cute photos. Here is a preview of the pictures. I can't wait to see the rest of them. Enjoy!

KC Zoo

I think we have gone animal crazy this week. After Deanna Rose on Thursday we hit the KC Zoom on Sunday. It was a little too hot for Harper so she stayed with Gram and Grandad while Briggs got a little one on one with Mom and Dad. I had kind of forgot how easy it is to only have one child to take care! We had a very hot but great day. Briggs really loves the animals this year especially the elephants and monkeys. I truthfully think he would have been happy to ride the train all day and never even see a animal. We took two train rides and that was really the main event. We stayed till we were too hot and tired to walk anymore. On the way home Briggs said "That was a really fun day guys", so worth the sweat!

Deanna Rose

I braved the 90 degree weather and took both kids to Deanna Rose Farmstead on Thursday. What a awesome place for kids to get to interact with farm animals and experience farm life. We met Kelli, Hadley, and Doe Doe, Thank god we had three pairs of hands. The kids were all great, Harper literally slept the entire three hours we were there. Briggs loves the fish pond, the baby goats, and the cows. He even went into the goat pen to pet the babies and thought it was hilarious when one of them tried to eat his shorts. After walking for 3 hours we had some tired and sweaty kids and adults. I love being able to have the summers off to experience these type of things with my kids.

Memorial Day

We headed out on our first road trip with Harper over Memorial Weekend to Chanute for the annual memorial day party. I had forgot how exhausting getting ready for a trip is when you have a baby. Briggs went down to Chanute a few days early to spend some time with Papa and Doe Doe. Briggs loves going to Chanute and believes it is nothing short of Disney Land with all the fun things to do. On the top of his list is the swimming pool, moped rides with Papa, and driving the Barbie Jeep. I think he would move in if Doe Doe offered. We had a great weekend and we were able to introduce Harper to so many friends and family. I always love going to Chanute and just being able to relax, something that is pretty rare at our house these days. Looking forward to heading down again and doing some swimming as the weather gets nicer. Thanks Papa and Doe Doe for being great host and always throwing a great party.
