Deep Thoughts by Briggs

A short video of Briggs just talking. I am not sure if everyone can understand him like we can but it is cute none the less. At the end he is telling how baby Harper is going to come out of my belly he says, "that doctor lady goes round and round (as in the sonogram machine on my belly) and then Harper just peeks out". If it were only that simple, right.

Mommy Rocks!!!

I wanted to write a little something on how lucky Briggs and I are to have a mom and wife like we do. Even when 8 months pregnant and having to pull the single mom routine when I'm gone to class, she's out there playing with Briggs and taking care of him so well. You've all heard the expression "momma's boy" and I'm certain we are going to have one of those on our hands for a long time. It's so fun to watch the two of them interact and how amazing she is with him. I swear she can pull a new game or fun idea out of her hat at any time where I'd probably just be doing the same thing over and over again with him. I know this pregnancy has made her more tired than she normally is and I'm sure she'd rather be sitting and relaxing at some times, but any time Briggs grabs her hand to pull her on the floor to be Frank the Harvester or hollers at her to chase him, she jumps right in and never misses a beat. She's a pretty amazing woman and I'm very lucky to have her be my partner in crime in this whole parenting thing. I just can't wait for Act #2 coming in a few short weeks to see how she is with a little girl. I know she'll be just as amazing and give her all the love in the world just like she does with her other boys.

Spring Break 2011

As I sit here at school today I am missing my little buddy terribly and wishing I was still on Spring Break. We had a great week just hanging out together and enjoying a little warm weather. We headed down to Chanute on Tuesday with Kiki and Hadley to spend some time with Grandpa and Grandma Herron. We were so lucky to have great weather and were able to spend most of our days outside. Briggs is such an outdoors man, he would be out from sun up to sun down if he could. We got to make good use of the princess jeep and motorcycle the kids got for Christmas. Briggs loves the jeep because it goes fast, I love the fact that he is driving a jeep that is pink and says "Glitter and Glamour" on the back. So manly! It takes us about 30 minutes to make it a whole block by the time we collect treasures and put it in reverse a million times but it is too cute.

We braved out millionth haircut while in Chanute. A friend of mom's has a salon out in the country so we thought we could lure him in with the cows and tractors. We were right, we had our first tear free haircut! It could have been the cartoons, the new toy story book I bribed him with, or the sucker, I really do not care what it was I am just happy we have turned a corner. If you have ever been in attendance for a haircut in the past you would totally understand why this is so monumental. He looks super cute with his new do and we got a tour of the farm after our appointment. He loved the cows, dogs, horse, and chickens. He also got to go to tiny tots or Doe Doe's school as he calls it for 2 days. He loved being a big boy and playing with all the older kids.

We headed home on Thursday to a few play dates and a slumber party with our cousin Mia on Friday night. I am not sure if I would consider there to be much of a break in the term Spring Break, a 2 1/2 year old boy full of energy and a 8 months pregnant mommy with no energy are not always a good combo. Needless to say I loved spending the week with my sweet little man and now am really looking forward to the summer and all the fun we will have.

Not to much new here just watching my belly grow and longing for spring. We have been staying busy with play dates and getting geared up for the arrival of Baby girl Harper. I think I must be nesting because I have a sudden urge to have everything clean and have her room finished just in case she decides to make an early arrival (yeah right). We have been doing a lot of on-line shopping for this one since making it to the store to browse with a 2 year old is virtually impossible. We received her rug (super cute), double jogging stroller, and new pink car seat. Feels like we are getting there but I am sure once she gets here we will realize all the other things we need. We are down to about 6 weeks now!!!

Briggs and I are getting geared up for Spring Break. Not a lot planned just a short trip to Chanute and hopefully some nice weather to get outside and play. I am looking forward to having a week off with my little man. He is so funny right now and I love hearing all the thoughts that he has and the way he interprets life. I always said I wanted to little snuggle bug and that is just what he is. Greg and I melt every time he comes up to one of us and says "I lub you Mommy/Daddy". He does it now without you saying it first and it is truly the best thing ever. It is usually accompanied by a a little pat on the back and a hug. Hope he never stops saying those words. Have a great Spring Break all you teachers and kiddos.

This will make you smile!

Briggs is so in love with his Daddy these days, anything he does is so funny. He thinks it is hilarious when Greg pretends like he hurts himself. This has become a nightly ritual where Greg runs into the wall and Briggs dies laughing. Must be a boy thing I am not sure I get it. Pretty cute that sweet little giggle.

Update

Well, we have a boy that is growing at the speed of light. Just in the last month or so his vocabulary has seemed to triple and his sentences are put together real well. So well in fact that we can't stop ourselves from laughing all the time at him. For instance, we were walking up the driveway and he looked at me and said, "Whoa, this is a big hill." That doesn't sound that cute, but if you could see and hear the way he said it you would be laughing. He is constantly happy and we think he broke out of his little shy rut he was in for awhile. He even blew a kiss at a stranger at the grocery store last night and it made her night. He's starting to sleep better after his little 2 month night terror incidents that were about to drive us bonkers and it couldn't have come sooner since we are about to be up all night with Harper in 8 weeks. Briggs is showing his big brotherness with Hadley already and really loves her and is getting great practice for what's to come. All in all, he's been the perfect little buddy and amazes us daily.
