The Great Pumpkin

Fall has arrived! This weekend was one of those perfect fall weekend, you need a jacket in the morning but it is beautiful in the afternoon. We totally vegged this weekend, watched lots of football, played outside, went to bed early, and took plenty of naps (I am desperate for sleep these days). Sunday we decided to take a pumpkin obsessed Briggs out to the pumpkin patch at Suburban lawn and Garden. He loves going there because he gets to drive the golf cart with Daddy. He loved picking out his pumpkins and we made sure to get a Daddy, mommy and baby pumpkin. He thought it was funny that he looked like the pumpkins in this orange jacket. So crazy last year at this time the pumpkins were as big as he was and he could barely walk.

We are going through a rough stage right now with Briggs and sleeping. He seems to be waking up about 3-4 times a night and wants us to rock him back to sleep. It is really taking a toll on Greg and I as we rarely get a night of uninterrupted sleep (welcome to parenthood right). We decided last night to start the tough love approach. Yikes it was horrible. He still woke up at his usual times of 11:20, 3:30, and 4:30 but we just let him go. His cries went from whimpers to full out sobs, I think Greg and I were in tears too. We just went in after about 20 minutes to rub his back and tell him night-night. The goal was to keep him in his crib to hopefully break him of wanting out at night. I am dreading tonight, I don't think I can hear that sweet little boy cry like that again. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will get better, cross your too we need all the help we can get.

Balloon Fest

Once again I am playing blog catch-up. Last weekend we had a nice low key weekend at home. Friday night we went to the Midwest Balloon Fest. While it seemed fun in theory, after a 30 minute walk to get there, a very hungry pregnant lady who left the cash in the car, and a little boy who did not want to be still it turned out to be a bit of a bust. The balloons however were really amazing. Briggs loved watching them launch and say the colors of each of them. He is getting really great with his colors. Blue is always right on but yellow, purple, white, and black are getting there. Always love weekends at home with my boys.

Bun In The Oven

Well it is official our little family of three will soon growing to a family of 4. About 4 weeks ago after a week of feeling a little off we decided it would be a good idea to take a test. Sure enough we saw two little pink lines. We could not be happier and really feel like it is the perfect time in our lives to welcome another little person to the world. We went to the doctor on Monday and saw the little being heartbeat and all. I think even if you had 20 babies seeing that heartbeat for the first time would still bring a tear to your eye. Our projected due date is April 27th, I am about 8 weeks along right now. No strong feelings on whether it will be a boy or a girl, really does not matter to us. Briggs however says that it is going to be a "girl brother" so he surely won't be disappointed either way. The thought of doing the baby thing all over again makes me anxious and excited all at the same time. Looking froward to not feeling nauseous and tired all day, should be a few more weeks. We will be sure to keep you updated on all things baby Tomlinson and his big brother Briggs.

Labor Day Weekend

I believe that every weekend should be a 3 day weekend. We had such a great a nice long, relaxing weekend I hated to go back to work today. After traveling so much on the weekends it was really great to spend some family time at home. We spent most of our time outside walking, playing at the park, and riding our little motorcycle. We attended a few BBQ's, went hiking, watched the wildcats win, and got one more tramatic haircut (notice the new buzz cut, it did not go well). It turned out to be the perfect weekend and just what we needed to recharge our batteries.

Updates

Sorry for the blogging hiatus. I could blame it on a million things but the fact of the matter is when I finally have a second to rest at the end of the day blogging is not the first thing on my mind. I have a made a resolution to be at least a weekly blogger from now on so all you avid readers ( yes all 4 of you) will not be disappointed. So what is happening at the Tomlinson household? We have finally got settled in at school both Briggs and I. There were many tearful mornings the first week again for both Briggs and I. I think the separation after a summer of fun was a lot to handle initially. He seems to be loving school now, I am lucky to get a wave and kiss before I am shooed out the door. His school friends are pulling rank over mommy these days.

Briggs is growing up so fast and really starting to look like a toddler. His vocabulary is getting pretty extensive although most of the time Greg and I are the only two that can decipher the words. We now sing constantly, our repertoire consist of "Swing Low". ABC's, and Twinkle Twinkle. I will try to post a few videos soon so you can see our vocalist live in action. He is doing a great job with potty training at school and at home, minus the bath incident part 2 a few nights ago. Instead of telling us he need to potty he just shouts hurry, hurry, so funny.

I am posting pictures of the last few weekends since I have been neglectful. Two weekends ago we hosted a baby shower for Kelli in Chanute. It was a huge success and so nice to have everyone home for a relaxing weekend. We are getting so excited to meet baby Hadley, what a lucky little girl to have such a sweet mommy like Kelli. Still trying to wrap my brain around my little sister having a baby. I can't wait to see her with her sweet baby girl.

Last weekend we attended a wedding in Olpe for my cousin Brad. Always love Olpe weddings and have such fond memories of our wedding a whole 5 years ago. It was a beautiful weekend and great to see all our our extended family. As always Briggs loves the farm complete with tractors and 4-wheelers. He and Lydia were hilarious at the dance, they busted a move for an hour straight. Based on his moves I think he might be the last asked to the dances in high school(he has his daddy's moves!).

We are looking forward to a nice long weekend at home. have a great weekend and I promise more updates soon.
