Omaha Zoo
Greg and I have always wanted to go to the Omaha Zoo and finally got our chance last weekend. We headed to Omaha on Friday to meet Bryan and Marci Ramsay with their two kids Braylon and Macyn. Briggs and Braylon might have been just as happy to stay in the hotel all weekend. They became fast friends and thought it was hilarious to run up and down the hall squealing like little girls. We hit the zoo first thing on Saturday morning and it turned out to be a beautiful day. The zoo was great and Briggs loved seeing all the animals we read about all the time. He made it till about 12:30 before he had to crash out, he missed a few of the animals but the nap was well needed. Saturday evening we went to the historic downtown district for dinner and ice cream. The boys went for a swim when we got back to the hotel in a attempt to wear them out. We all crashed out pretty early after a fun and exhausting day. Before we headed out of town Sunday we got to have lunch with my cousin Kellen and her husband Chad. After a great lunch and nice visit we headed home with a very sleepy boy in tow. Hope to have many more family trips with the Ramsays.

Summer Rain
We had a huge thunderstorm on Friday evening that was massive but only lasted about 40 minutes. After the rain cleared it was beautiful and sunny, a perfect summer rain. We took advantage of the flooded gutter in front of house to splash around and play. You forget how simple fun can be when you are a kid.

Deanna Rose
Thursday we made a trip out to the Deanna Rose Farmstead with Doe Doe, Grandma Leta, and Lydia. Even though it was a bit hot we managed to have a great time and see tons of those farm animals we love so much. The horses and fish were are favorites with the goats that tried to eat our shorts being the least favorite. Deanna Rose is such a wonderful place for kids and we look forward to many more visits.

Farmer Briggs
Briggs got his first taste of farm life this weekend with a trip to Grandma and Grandpa Nub's farm. I think that we might have a little country boy on our hands here. He loved everything about the farm, the big tractors, 4-wheelers, cows, kitties, and anything else that had wheels and a big motor. He spent most of his time chasing the kitties and watching the cows. I loved seeing him on the farm that I have such fond childhood memories of. It was great seeing Grandma and Grandpa on a slow weekend where we could actually visit. I only hope that I am that happy and in love when I am there age. Thanks Allie for all your help with Briggs, he thinks you are pretty special. We will be heading down to the farm again next week and I hope I can drag Briggs away from country living.

July 4th Weekend
Can the 4th of July really be here and gone? I am already freaking out just a bit thinking about my summer break being half over. We had a great 4th weekend with some well needed family time and lots of fun. Friday Greg and I took off for Des Moines with our good friend Michael and Melissa Freeman for a very mini getaway. Being that we both have sweet little boys at home we rarely find time to spend together free of the kiddos. I know Des Moines does not seem like a hot spot to travel to but surprising enough it is a really fun little town. We hit a Sister Hazel concert and then headed out downtown. We all agreed that the drive there and back were the best because we actually had a chance to talk and catch up. After a long relaxing breakfast we headed back to our boys and the realization that we are not as young as we once were! Thank you Gram, Grandad, and Great Grandma Doris for taking care of Briggs, I know he was not spoiled at all.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday we relaxed at home, went for walks, rode bikes, and enjoyed actually being at home for once this summer. Sunday night we went to the Freeman's house for a barbecue. Briggs loved playing with all the big kids and running around outside. We actually caught him eating dirt, yeah we had the weird kid at the party that was eating dirt. I have always said that the boy will eat anything but this is bordering on crazy. Fun night catching up with friends but missed the fireworks due to rain. Great 4th weekend was had by all and can only imagine the pyro we will have on our hands next year at this time.

"I poopoo in there"
Well, our little guy took a big step last night in to becoming a big boy. Briggs has been telling us for a few weeks that, "I poopoo in there" after he goes to the bathroom (could be his first complete sentence actually). But we've noticed over the past few days that he'll tell us that right before he actually goes. Well last night we finally listened to him and took him upstairs to his little frog stool and sure enough, he went to the bathroom on the pot for the first time!! Amazing what we get excited for these days, but it was pretty cute clapping for him and seeing how confused he was when we were saying "Goodbye poopy" and waving to it as we flushed it down. Guess we'd better get a bag of M&M's ready so we can start making this a habit.

Herron Tablerock Trip
This past weekend we were lucky enough to spend another great weekend down at Tablerock Lake. This time we went with the Herron side and spent our days swimming at the pool, eating way too much, and getting in a full day of boating on the lake. Unfortunately, Briggs has two stubborn teeth that are slowly coming in and he wasn't feeling his best. He was still in a great mood during the day other than the day on the boat (took him up for a 5 hour nap!!), but the night time was when the fun really began. He pushed through it like he always does and he still had a great time of being spoiled by everyone and playing with Baby LaLa. Thank you so much to PaPa and DoDo for the entire weekend...we had a great time as usual.
